GAIA, a dedicated volunteer organization in the Mani, is committed to protecting nature and local culture. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Grigoris Orfanidis, GAIA has expanded its work to fire prevention, rescue operations, and environmental conservation. In a region prone to wildfires and far from the nearest fire stations, GAIA's volunteers provide essential services such as firefighting, first aid, and animal rescue.

Funded through donations and local support, GAIA continues to grow while volunteers remain ready to protect the community and nature.
