Our Origin – The Mani: A Place with Soul

Port of Stoupa in the Mani

The Mani region, in the south of the Peloponnese, is one of the most authentic and untouched landscapes of Greece.

With its wild mountains, crystal-clear water, and centuries-old olive groves, it is not only home to the MANI company, but also a source of inspiration and action for our family.

A Place Shaped by Free Spirit and Independence

The people of the Mani—the Maniots—are known for their desire for freedom and their deep roots in tradition. For centuries, they have lived in small, independent communities and have developed a culture of resistance and independence. This strength still shapes daily life and olive cultivation in this region today.

Olive cultivation in the Mani is an ancient tradition passed down from generation to generation.

MANI Bläuel has made it its mission to preserve this tradition and promote organic olive farming to protect the cultural landscape of the Mani. Together with over 300 small farming families, we support sustainable cultivation and contribute to the preservation of the region.

The Cultural Heritage of the Mani

The Mani is rich in history and culture that dates back to antiquity. From the characteristic stone houses to the defensive towers—the architecture of the Mani tells of a time when people had to defend themselves against conquerors. Today, visitors can explore the medieval fortresses and the famous dripstone caves of Pirgos Dirou and experience the cultural heritage up close.

Culinary Tradition of the Mani

The Mediterranean cuisine of the Mani is based on the rich natural resources of the region. Olives and olive oil have been the central ingredients for centuries, shaping the unique taste of the Mani. Traditional dishes like pickled olives, fresh vegetables, and hearty meze are an integral part of the Mani's culinary identity. Our organic products help to preserve this tradition and share it with the world.

A Place of Relaxation and Unfolding

Amidst the olive groves, overlooking the deep blue sea, lies our organic guesthouse, the MANI Sonnenlink. Here, nature, culture, and personal development unite—a place of tranquility and inspiration. Our guests can experience the region that so greatly shapes us and our actions, while enjoying the fruits of the Mani in the form of our organic products.
