Honey Olive Oil Biscuits "Melomakarona" are a traditional Greek Christmas treat made with aromatic ingredients like cinnamon, walnuts, and high-quality olive oil. Perfect as a festive sweet or a thoughtful homemade gift for the holiday season.

Ingredients for the Dough:

  • 1 glass honey
  • 2 glasses sugar
  • 2 glasses water
  • 2 tsp lemon zest

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F). Mix all ingredients except the flour using a mixer or whisk for about 5 minutes until light and airy. Gradually add flour until a soft, moldable dough forms. Cover and let rest for 45 minutes.
  2. Shape the dough into oval, flat balls. Arrange them with some space on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Prepare the syrup: Heat all ingredients in a saucepan, stirring occasionally, until liquid. Briefly dip the warm Melomakarona into the syrup, then sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped walnuts. Serve and enjoy!
